Play allows children to express themselves in their primary language without the stress of having to verbally communicate and rationalize their big emotions that they may not even fully understand.
We use both directive and non-directive play in sessions to fit the needs of each individual child. In addition to child-led play, we incorporate art therapy-informed creating and expression as well as verbal communication in session to meet each child where they are at.
Contact with the parents/guardians is necessary for the continuation of child support and transformation. We offer bi-weekly parent check-ins over the phone to touch base about goals, parent observations, concerns, growth, and any other support the parent(s) feels is needed to support their child through the therapy process.
